Painting like a pro is much more attainable than one may think. A successful painting experience is always led with patience, simplicity, and the tips we have listed below.
We say patience because there will be times where you just might want the project to be over with. This is not the case when painting. If you get frustrated with how long it takes to paint the surface that you are painting, this often leads to applying the paint sloppily. When this is done, paint will streak down your surface, resulting in a messy and non enjoyable process.
When painting something as large as your house, it is easy to get overwhelmed by looking at the entire project as one whole. To avoid stressing oneself out with a large project, we advise to simplify the project into more tangible processes. Starting with pressure washing, then caulking, then the siding, and finally any window pains and gutters.
At Tallahassee Painters Pro we work through a process in each painting job we do. This process involves 6 different techniques that are imperative to a premium painting process.
Tip 1: Clean the surface that you are going to paint. If painting the exterior, pressure wash. If painting the interior, have a gentle rag (can use a kitchen or bath rag) and clean water. Scrub until all dirt and debris are removed from the surface. This ensures that your tape and paint are going to stick to the surface.
Tip 2: Swallow your pride and use painters tape. Even professionals use painters tape. You should as well when doing a DIY project. This means thoroughly tape where there is supposed to be a line or change in color. The style or brand of tape really doesn’t matter as long as it doesn’t let paint seep through it and sticks to the surface that it is sticking to...which should be cleaned.
Tip 3: Clean up mistakes while they are still wet. The difference between a professional and an amateur is not that the professional doesn’t make mistakes but that they own up to it and fix them properly. If you missed your target or splattered some extra paint on an unwanted surface then wipe it off with a damp rag as quickly as possible.
Tip 4: Remove everything from the painting space. If painting outdoors, remove or cover any yard ornaments or other articles that should not be painted. Especially when using a roller or sprayer, things are bound to get messy. Take a few minutes ahead of time to cover and/or remove things that should not get messy with your project.
Tip 5: Caulk all cracks. When caulking the cracks, you are looking for a smooth surface to paint on. If you were to not caulk the cracks, the paint will then fill the void and not be smooth. This also calls for runny paint which leaves streaks. Caulk should look like a natural filler and blend the paint in well with the rest of the canvas. No particular caulk is needed unless the surface you are painting requires a specific caulk, example: wood caulk.
Tip 6: To really save yourself, pick a powerful primer. A strong and well made primer will help the paint stick and last for as long as you would want it to - a lifetime! This will also help you save money in the long run for you will not have to worry about painting it again in the near future. Of course quality of paint is a serious factor in the paint job as a whole but a nice primer goes along with the job quite well.
As of lately, we have been getting calls from the Southwood area, probably because it is our own neighborhood's adjacent neighbor. Most people ask if we serve this area. Or if we are qualified to paint in these homes?
Of course we are! We proudly serve all of our neighbors and will take on any challenge to prove ourselves as the best Tallahassee painters. We will happily come by today, tomorrow, or any day to estimate a quote on ANY home or commercial painting project in Tallahassee, especially Southwood.
As we’re sure many of you know, the Southwood area is a beautiful neighborhood on the south side of Tallahassee that runs parallel with Apalachee Parkway and St. Augustine Rd. It is a grand neighborhood because of its community. There is so much in the neighborhood that is often missed or overlooked.
This neighborhood holds a quality portion of the Tallahassee community. The 1,000+ acreage of Southwood contains a radius that includes education, parks and recreation, businesses, and other establishments.
The main education institutes for Southwood include Florida High (Florida State University Schools - FSUS) and John Paul 2 Catholic High School. Both are excellent choices for the youth of our community.
Parks, recreation, pools, tennis courts, along with the beautiful Southwood golf court all piece together to make a lively community for its people.
Southwood even has a series of restaurants and businesses in it’s own local square!
We could go on forever discussing the amenities Southwood holds and several other unique landmarks, all in the same community that unite within it’s neighborly borders, but we would rather let this YouTube video show you.
As you can tell it is an attraction for quality individuals, much like ourselves.
We don’t just serve the area, we WANT to pursue the area of Southwood. Bringing the highest quality of painters Tallahassee can provide.
To sum, we don’t just offer our services in the Southwood area...we actively pursue painting in Southwood, as it is part of the Tallahassee neighborly community!
We are the #1 painter Tallahassee FL offers. We prove this through multiple services that meet all of your needs, friendliest and professional demeanors, and our simple respect for your property. These are what set us apart.
It is quite simple actually, especially once you think of it in these terms:
What are some home improvement projects that have come along this summer in your home? Maybe it’s building a new deck around your refreshing pool. Perhaps it’s patching the hole in your drywall from your cousin at the family reunion. Or maybe it is something much simpler like painting your bedroom a new color.
Regardless of what, a more important question is HOW are you going to get those jobs done?
Your son has baseball practice, your daughter has music lessons, and your eldest has workouts early in the morning, the list of “to-do’s” is never ending. Trust me, we get it. Instead of Piling on a continuous list of spells and stress to your “to do list”, reach out to your fellow Tallahassee helpers.
In all three of the above listed situations, we are here to help!
If you just had your deck built and don’t want to splinter any dancing/grilling feet this summer, reach out to the friendliest painter Tallahassee FL knows. Our no obligation quote will feel less like a contractor invading your personal space, and more like your knowledgeable friend from church coming to help and guide the proper knowledge to your home improvement projects.
We were totally kidding about your cousin knocking a hole in your wall...we hope anyway. However, the truth is, things like that do happen. When they happen, that “to do” list we mentioned earlier adds one more tense muscle to your body. In order to live a stress free summer, call us up instead to have our 15+ years of knowledge take a look to see how we can help ease the tension.
Last but certainly not least, if your child is entering middle school and starting to grow out of the baby blue bedroom stage, then of course we can help! Your child is begging you to take this leap, I promise.
Basically, we can paint everything you need. Porches, patios, fences, decks, and of course your interior/exterior of your home. We can even paint your office (only if your boss allows it though ;))
Regardless of pool decks, cousins breaking things, and your children changing phases of interest, the point we want to get across is that we are here for all of our Tallahassee people. Our roots run deep in this hometown of ours, with FAMU, FSU, and TCC graduates working with us in order to ensure that you have the BEST painter Tallahassee FL has, adding color to every step of your home or office by taking the load off of your summer projects. We are here to help you turn your summer “to do list” to a “to Done list”.
